Marine Harvest Gets Approval to Develop "Egg" Farming System to Combat Sea Lice

Marine Harvest was given approval from the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries to develop its “egg” concept to farm salmon in an attempt to minimize mortalities from sea lice.
The world’s largest salmon producer asked Norway for approval to develop 14 of the “egg” systems and was given approval for four.
The concept allows Marie Harvest to farm salmon at depths where sea lice cannot survive. They are supertanker like structures that are shaped like an egg. The 44-meter high structure is a closed unit that appears to bob the water...
