DFO Identifies 140,000 km of Ocean West of Vancouver Island for MPA Designation

Canada’s Department of Fisheries and Oceans identified 140,000 km of ocean space west of Vancouver Island that would become one of the country’s largest Marine Protected Areas by 2020.
This designation is part of Canada’s plan to protect 5 percent of iots marine and coastal area by 2017 and 10 percent by 2020.
