Today's Main Story: 5 Yr Sunset Review Fails to End Shrimp Duties
As expected, the International Trade Commission voted to retain anti-dumping shrimp duties on imports from China, India, Vietnam and Thailand. The unanimous vote came at the end of the five-year sunset review. Few expected a different outcome, as the ITC continues duties about 70% to 80% of the time in similar reviews. Brazil, which has abandoned the US shrimp market, was dropped from the list of countries subject to the anti-dumping order.
In other news, part of the budget bill was a victory for Alaskan crabbers and marketers. Congress directed the FDA to change the acceptable market name of Brown Crab to Golden King Crab.
