BI-LO, Harveys  and Winn-Dixie Will Sell Only 4-Star BAP Certified Seafood by 2018

Southeastern Grocers the parent company of BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie grocery stores has made a commitment to sell only four-star, Best Aquaculture Practices certified farm raised seafood by the 2018.

Four-starar certification is the highest achievable standard provided by the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s BAP program. It designates that a farmed seafood item is produced through a responsibly managed process from the feed mill to the end user. 
Southeast Grocers said it will work with eight different seafood suppliers to secure all four-star certified seafood products by 2018.

To ensure this, we must focus on sustainable ways of providing customers with quality product with minimal environmental impact,” said Scott Morris, Executive Vice President of Merchandising for Southeastern Grocers...
