Maryland's Striped Bass Spawning Rates Trending Well Below Fishery's 63-Year-Average

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that the state’s striped bass spawning success rate in the Chesapeake Bay is well below the 63-year average for the fishery.
This is according to the state’s 2016 young-of-the-year striped bass index, which measures bass spawning success in Maryland’s portion of the Chesapeake Bay.
The Index is 2.2, well below the 63-year average of 11.7. The index represents the average number of less than 1 year old fish caught in 132 samples during the Juvenile Striped Bass Survey...
