AP votes to Accept Crab Plan Review; Also Asks for Council Study on Arbitration in Crab Fishery

The North Pacific Fisheries Council Advisory Panel finished hearing about the ten-year review of the Bering Sea Crab fisheries, and voted to accept the 200 page review document with no further requests for clarifications or major revisions during the second day of the N. Pacific Council meeting in Kodiak.
Although some members of the Advisory Panel said they were still opposed to some of the original decisions made in this program, they did not see the review as an opportunity to change what is already in place. Instead, several said their views on the crab program would color their approach to the next big agenda item, the rationalization of Gulf of Alaska Trawl fisheries.
