Sen. Murkowski Wants Mandatory GM Salmon Labeling or Will Stall Final Vote on FDA Commissioner

Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski said she would stall the final vote approving Dr. Robert Califf as the next FDA Commissioner if she does not get assurances that mandatory labeling laws will be written for genetically modified salmon.
On Tuesday the Senate subcommittee for Health, Education, Labor and Pensions voted in favor of sending the nomination of Dr. Califf as FDA Commissioner to the full Senate for final approval.
The unanimous vote means the Dr. Califf is one step closer from replacing Margaret Hamburg as the Administration's Commissioner. Hamburg stepped down early last year, which left FDA Chief Scientist Stephen Ostroff to serve as acting Commissioner ever since...
