Australian Exporter Gains ASC Certification for its Jade Tiger Farmed Abalone, A Hit in Asia

Jade Tiger farmed abalone is fast winning the hearts and dollars of wealthy Asian diners.
Flown into affluent markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and China alive less than a day after being harvested from their aquaculture farm near Geelong, demand for the luxury shellfish is escalating faster than the three-year-old palm-sized abalone can be supplied.
The owner, the West Australia-based private Craig Mostyn agribusiness group, plans to double production of its unique abalone species at the Indented Head operation it bought last year, the largest of Australia’s 12 abalone farms.
Jade Tiger Abalone is the world’s first abalone farm to be accredited by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council.
