Southern China's Tilapia Farmers Predict Lower Q3 Supplies on Big Decline in Pond Seedlings

Tilapia farmers in Southern China claim that seedling stocking is down between 40 and 50 percent in their ponds through the first half of 2015 due to globally low prices and demand clashing with currently well-supplied inventories.
Broodstock demand is down across Southern China according to producers. Some have attempted to spur higher seedling and broodstock sales through discounts as far back as April. However, the market was still not able to absorb the lower prices, which prompted seedlings to be destroyed from lack of use.
