Spring Rains Affecting Gulf Coast Shrimp

SAN ANTONIO - The record rains that hit San Antonio and South Texas this past spring are starting to have an effect on the brown shrimp season.
The fresh water hit the Gulf of Mexico and damaged the shrimp growing cycle. According to the National Marine Fishing Service, the number of shrimp from the Mississippi River to the Mexican border could drop by 14 million pounds, or 24 percent.
