US Farmed Salmon Imports at Record Levels, Summer Prices Falling as Buyers Turn to Whole Fish

Fresh farmed Atlantic salmon imports to the US are at record levels this year partially due to the return of Canadian wholefish production and what appears to be heavier buyer interest for whole salmon in general. Record shipments have US inventories well supplied with demand seasonally slow; conditions that continue to push prices in the market to levels not seen since 2012 and 2013.
