Major US Shrimp Suppliers Not Behind Surge in FDA's Sharply Higher Antibiotic Refusals

The FDA's imported shrimp refusal figures are up sharply this year over 2014 as part the Administration's campaign to crackdown on antibiotics in shipments. But it's become abundantly clear that Malaysian shipments are driving up these figures at a pretty consistent clip; a positive sign that a majority of the US shrimp supply is free of banned substances.
In March we reported that the FDA was targeting antibiotics in imported shrimp. This had driven shrimp refusals through February up three times their levels in February 2014...
