Anchovy Season Underway in Peru's Southern Region with TAC Up 60%; Northern Fleet to Start April 10

Anchovy fishing is now underway in Peru's southern region with a quota 60 percent higher over last season's catch.
The Peruvian commercial fleet is now able to fish in the Atico, Arequipa and points south of the country's martime domain. This season's quota is set a 375,000 tons up from 2014's 234,000 ton TAC.
Recently the government permitted the fleet to fish five miles off the coast rather than 10 miles. That decision followed a forecast that a wave of warm water from this year's El Nino system would push the anchovy mass between the 5 and 10 mile zone...
