South Korea now testing Japanese seafood for radiation to see if import ban can be lifted

A South Korean team of experts started an investigation in Japan Monday into whether Japanese fishery products are safe enough for Seoul to lift its import restrictions on them.
The team will stay in Japan until Friday to collect data for a possible review of the restrictions in place due to fears of contamination from the March 2011 triple meltdown at Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant.
In a meeting with the team, Kazuyoshi Honkawa, director-general of Japan's Fisheries Agency, called on South Korea to lift the restrictions early. The Japanese government is taking all possible measures to provide safe fishery products, he said...
