Investments in Chile's salmon farms falls to 6 year low with industry well past ISA crisis

Recovery among Chilean salmon farmers from the ISA crisis in 2009 was met with an industry-wide reduction in investments made on projects to combat and control disease in the industry. The pullback on new projects in 2014 has seen funding drop to its lowest level in six years.
A report by the System of Environmental Impact Assessment found about US$2.2 billion was invested in Chile's salmon farming industry between 2008 - 2015; about US$355 million per year on average.
Most of the funding has gone toward projects aimed at restructuring the country's disease protocols following the ISA outbreak that wiped out salmon production in 2009.
