Three UK oyster farms, first to enter ASC assessment, hope to get product certified by Christmas

Jersey Sea Farms, Jersey Oyster Ltd and Seymour Oysters-- all based in the UK have--become the first in the world to enter assessment against the Aquaculture Stewardship Council's Bivalves Standard for responsible aquaculture. The operations have set a goal to bring ASC-certified product to the market for this upcoming holiday season.
Each of the Jersey, UK-based farms will be reviewed by independent certifiers to see if their oyster farming practices meet the ASC's global standard for responsible production.
“From day one, we knew that we wanted to achieve ASC certification," said Tony Legg, Jersey Sea Farms’ owner.
