Alaska red king crab quota increased 16%, small opening for St Matthews blue king

The Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game announced a 16% increase in the Bristol Bay Red King crab harvest level, and also re-opened the St. Matthews Blue King crab fishery at a small level.
The red king crab harvest guideline increased from 8.6 million pounds in 2013 to 9.986 million pounds in 2014, an increase of 16%, The harvest guideline includes both crab allocated to IFQ holders, and the 10% of the harvest allocated to CDQ groups.
The biologists said that the effective spawning biomass increased from 49.3 million pounds in 2013 to 51.3 million pounds...
