Mississippi opens up more waters for commercial shrimping

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources will open additional waters for shrimping on Monday, Sept. 29, according to a news release.
Beginning at 6 a.m., all waters south and west of a line beginning at beacon "18" in the Biloxi Bay Channel and running northwest to beacon "22" in the Biloxi Bay Channel, continuing northwest to beacon "26" in the Biloxi Bay Channel and west to beacon "34," exclusive of the Biloxi Channel itself and then due south to a point on Deer Island.
Recreational and commercial shrimp season will close at midnight Dec. 31, 2014, north of the Intracoastal Waterway and at midnight April 30, 2015, south of the Intracoastal Waterway. Live-bait shrimping is open year-round to licensed live bait vessels...
