38 Fish plants in Murmansk on verge of collapse; cannot get raw material due to sanctions

Leading fish processors of the Russian Murmansk region, one of the country’s centers of fish processing, are on the verge of collapse, due to a ban on the imports of fish from Western countries, recently imposed by the Russsian government.
This has already resulted in the beginning of judicial proceedings. Several days ago Murmansk fish factory, one the largest fish processors in the region, filled a lawsuit to the Russian Supreme Court against the national government, considering the imposed embargo as illegal, which violates the rights of the country’s fishery producers.
According to Michael Zub, head of the plant, unless the sanctions are lifted, the company will not be able to recover. He also added that there is a need to exclude fish from the list of products, which further imports to Russia are banned.
The same situation is currently observed with other fish processing companies of the Murmansk region. There are a total of 38 primary processing plants, and in 2013 total volume...
