In another threat to the Panhandle’s fisheries – British Columbia’s KSM mine has sailed through the permitting process. The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency concluded that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse impacts and safeguards will prevent any harm to Alaska’s fisheries and human health. The KSM mine will include three of North America’s largest open pit gold and copper mines at the headwaters of primary salmon rivers just 19 miles from the Alaska border...
