As Newfoundland crab fishing winds down, Japan's supplies of snow crab will be 10% to 20% less

With crab fishing winding down in 3K and 3L, the two most important fishing areas in Newfoundland, only 95% of the quota has been caught in those areas. The DFO recently extended fishing in some areas until July 21st, but they have also begun closing more areas due to softshell.
Last year 100% of the quota was caught in 3K and 3L. This year that may not happen. Currently in Newfoundland 47,809 tons has been caught out of a quota of 51,817 tons. It is likely that the full quota will not be landed.
In 2013 about 1500 tons of crab quota was left uncaught...
