King Oscar adds Spanish Style Sardines to its skinless-boneless line

King Oscar, based in Bergen, Norway, is best known for its brisling sardines and also packs mackerel, herring, anchovies and cod liver.
Recently it has introduced a line of skinless boneless sardines and will have a version with Spanish style flavors in full distirbution by September. The product is wild-caught Mediterranean hand-packed pilchards packed in olive oil and delivering the distinctive vegetable crunch of pepper, cucumber, and carrot along with a spicy flavor.
The company says it has just under 60% dollar share of the premium sardine product category, according to Nielsen 52-week data. Dollar sales of King Oscar skinless & boneless sardines increased 124.7% (All Channel 52-week Period Ending May 17, 2014).
