Shucks Maine Lobster processing plant waiting for permits to open in Portland

It appears only a few logistical hurdles are all that stand in the way of a new lobster processing plant opening up along Portland’s Maine State Pier.
At a workshop Tuesday evening, the city’s planning board heard from the operators of Shucks Maine Lobster who said they’re ready to go, as soon as the proper permits are in place.
Shuck president John Hathaway said “The alternative is another five million pounds goes to Canada, they create jobs, they create the value, they send it back to the us to be sold as a product of Canada not a Maine lobster.”
