Japan: Fresh Salmon Imports by Air Recovered in February, Procurement Costs Highest Ever
According to Japan’s Ministry of Finance's import customs statistics, the quantity of fresh salmon and trout transported by air in February increased for the first time in six months. However, this is a reactionary increase from the sharp decline in fillets in the same month last year. The imports of mainstay head-on, gutted fish are still sluggish, and procurement costs have reached their highest levels.
