Japan: Record Low In 40 Years For 2023 Shrimp Imports
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Finance, the cumulative total of shrimp imports in 2023 fell below 210,000 tons for the first time in about 40 years since 1985, dropping 10.6% from the previous year to 202,842 tons. The Suisan Keizai Shimbun reported that the value of imports decreased by 12.1% to 282,507 million yen ($1,868.37 million) amid the continued depreciation of the yen.
