OCI Announces Project to Move Canadian Redfish towards MSC Requirements

Ocean Choice international announced the launch of a Fisheries Improvement Project, through the Groundfish Enterprise Allocation Council, that will aim to bring two more Canadian trawl fisheries up to MSC standards.
For redfish / ocean perch, the FIP will cover the offshore fisheries in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Laurentian Channel, between Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. The Sustainable Fisheries Partnership will support the project to move towards certification of these fisheries. The offshore TAC for these fisheries is around 8000 tons, of which OCI holds 40% of the quota.
