Pew Wants Two-Year Fishing Ban on Pacific Bluefin Tuna With International Management Adrift

The Pew Charitable Trusts wants a two-year moratorium on commercial Pacific bluefin tuna fishing after a stock assessment showed the population is at just 2.6 percent of its size and that overall fishing mortality remains up to three times higher than is sustainable.
The ban follows the inability of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission and the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission to agree on a Pacific-wide recovery plan that will end overfishing and return the population to healthy levels...
