Two Earthquakes Strike Western Ecuador Close to Last Month's Epicenter; Damage Not Severe

Two powerful earthquakes struck Western Ecuador on Wednesday very close to the epicenter of last month’s 7.8 magnitude quake that rocked the Pedernales region.
The first quake struck early Wednesday morning in the Esmeraldas province. The epicenter was about 100 miles northwest from Ecuador’s capital city Quito.
The second tremor hit in the afternoon near Mompiche, a coastal town.
A US Geological Survey reported the quakes with 6.7 and 6.8 magnitudes, respectively....
