Gulf Shrimp Landings Spike in March But Market Unchanged With New Season Production Still Weeks Away

Gulf shrimp landings in March spiked compared to last year’s levels and are now well above the five-year-average with still two months to go before the official start to the commercial fishing season.
Landings totaled 3.5 million pounds for the month, more than double the total catch compared to March 2015. Gulf production through the first three months of the year is up 32 percent to 10.4 million pounds....
