Newk’s Eatery added an Ahi Tuna sandwich and rolled out several crawfish offerings in time for the Lenten season.
The Mississippi-based fast casual chain with 100 stores in 13 states said it opted for an Ahi Tuna sandwich given the success of its Ahi Tuna Salad it launched for last year's Lenten season. The eatery also features a shrimp and avocado salad on its menu.
The sandwich features layers of Ahi Tuna steak seared medium rare, served on toasted French bread, topped with baby arugula and finished with a dill sauce. The item will be available through February 15 through May 8. The item will retail for $9.99.
Newk's also announced a winter season menu featuring several crawfish items. Crawfish Pizza, Crawfish Mac and Cheese and Crawfish Pimiento Mac and Cheese— are all offered on the limited time menu.
“Like everything else on Newk’s menu, we serve our seafood fresh, not fried. Our sushi-grade Ahi tuna is lightly seared, and our shrimp is expertly seasoned and broiled to order,” said Alan Wright, Newk’s Eatery’s Chief Marketing Officer. “At a time of year when quick and easy meatless options tend toward the uninspired, Newk’s is intentional about delivering creative options that are both healthy and culinary.”
