Cod, Haddock prices up on slow fishing, surging Russian demand
Sow fishing in the Barents Sea is pushing up prices of both cod and haddock, and that there is a good possibility that Barents Sea quotas will not be caught this year.
For 2014, Russia and Norway agreed on cod and haddock quotas for the Barents Sea on Friday, with cod down marginally and haddock down 10.75%, a less severe cut than recommended by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea.
Quotas for 2014, however, are far from the minds of fishing companies and traders in the cod business, because of the slow fishing at the end of 2013.
