Lackluster Chinese Demand Impacts Shrimp Exports Across the Globe
The banning of three Ecuadorian white shrimp producers after China detected traces of COVID-19 on packaging last year, has had a considerable impact on the market. Average shrimp prices between July and December last year fell 20% for 21-25 headless count from Latin America (FOB), according to Urner Barry’s Comtell.
In China, consumer confidence dropped and led to a domino effect in other key shrimp markets.
