First Week of Copper River Sockeye Landings Fall Short of Pre-Season Forecasts
It’s still early in the Copper River season, but the second opener was a disappointment for Cordova’s fishing industry with a total catch of 4,550 sockeye and 1,700 Chinook salmon. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s management biologists have announced there will be no second opener this week. They’ll announce on Friday, at 2 p.m. local time, when an expected Monday, May 25 opener will occur.
