Following U.S. Ban of Seafood Imports from Mexico, Vaquita Case Against NMFS Dismissed
A lawsuit brought against the U.S. government, including the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), by multiple environmental groups was dismissed by a federal judge on Wednesday.
In the suit, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Center for Biological Diversity and Animal Welfare Institute claimed that the U.S. government did not protect endangered vaquita porpoises because it did not ban imports of seafood caught with gillnets.
