Three Men Charged with Violating Laws Intended to Protect Rebuilding Atlantic Herring Stock
The Maine Marine Patrol has issued citations to three men for violating laws designed to protect the Atlantic herring fishery.
Late last year, the New England Fishery Management Council and NMFS instituted new management rules for the fishery that included steep cuts to harvest levels. Stock assessments showed herring recruitment was extremely poor.
