Canadian Government Providing Emergency Financial Assistance to Fish Harvesters Affected by Ice
Fish harvesters in Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec who have been affected by ice conditions may be eligible for emergency financial assistance from the Canadian government. The Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, announced on Wednesday that the government has set aside up to $5 million in emergency funding for eligible applicants who have faced delays in the start of the fishing season.
