Russia Plans to Increase its Pelagic Fishing Operations This Year
Russia may significantly increase its harvest of mackerel, sardines and other pelagic fish species this year, due to a significant increase of their stocks in the domestic territorial waters, according to recent statements of some leading Russian fishermen and experts of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
As planned, both for mackerel and sardines, the expected catch will be at least 300,000 tonnes. In the meantime, there are also plans for the increase of saury harvests.
