Snow Crab Prices Continue to Adjust Lower, with Urner Barry Quotes on 5-8 Falling Below $8.00
With the opening of the Gulf snow crab season last week, and continued lackluster market demand on 5-8 sections, Urner Barry quotes on 5-8 oz snow crab sections from Newfoundland continued to decline last week.
Since April prices have fallen from $8.75 to $7.95 for crab from Newfoundland. Crab from the Gulf and from Alaska (5-8 oz sections) also have continued to decline.
Last week the DFO announced a single grid closure due to presence of soft shell crab in area 3L.
