Rabobank’s Nikolik: Long-term market outlook still rosy for fishmeal producers

BERGEN, Norway -- Speculating on long-term trends in the fishmeal market is fraught with difficulties but Gorjan Nikolik, senior analyst of seafood at Dutch agri-bank Rabobank, took up the challenge and identified several factors which, in his view, should inspire confidence among producers.
The fishmeal sector is jittery as alternative feed manufacturers continue to make progress with the development of novel protein ingredients and omega-3 oils which can be substituted for fishmeal.
