Canadian Gov’t Loosens Gulf of St. Lawrence Whale Rules; Closed Area only ½ size of last year
At a meeting in Shippagan yesterday, Canadian Fisheries Minister Wilkinson announced changes to right whale protection rules in the Gulf for 2019. The changes will reduce the closed area to all fishing to 1/2 the size it was in 2018, and will change how dynamic closures work in shallow waters.
