Anti-Gillnet Bills Introduced in Washington, Oregon Legislatures
The anti-gillnet lobby is keeping up its effort to put salmon gillnetters out of business in the Pacific Northwest.
Bills introduced in Washington and Oregon legislatures would eliminate or further restrict non-tribal gillnets in areas like Puget Sound and the Columbia River.
Gillnetters are particularly concerned with SB 5617, introduced by Jesse Salomon, a Democrat, and con-sponsored by a bipartisan group of 23 other senators.
