SAs West Coast Salmon Sets Plans for Africas First Industrial Scale RAS Salmon Farm
South African aquaculture company West Coast Salmon (WCS) has unveiled plans for a salmon farm with an annual production of 4,800 metric tons at Betty's Bay on the country's Western Cape, roughly 100 kilometers from Cape Town.
Taking into account yield loss from processing the fish into a headed or gutted product, WCS believes the farm would still generate an estimated 4,200t of marketable Atlantic salmon -- equating to roughly 50% of the country's total salmon imports...
