Change in Vietnam’s Health Certificates Backing up Containers in Ports, Especially Tuna
A change introduced by Vietnam’s Animal Health department has led to a backup of seafood containers in Vietnamese ports.
Beginning November 1st, containers of frozen fish sent directly from fishing boats will require an animal health certificate, the same as if the product was produced on land.
For the past ten years, these containers, primarily frozen tuna, have not needed any additional clearances. VASEP says that the change has resulted in more than 50 containers being stuck in port.
