The Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen’s Associations (PCFFA) has sued a number of oil companies in a California state court for damages arising from the excessive burning of fossil fuels. The fishermen, focusing mostly on losses during Dungeness crab season, say that due to harmful algae blooms caused by warming water, officials in California and Oregon have closed or delayed the fishing season for the past couple of years due to domoic acid concerns.
