CBP Seizes 900 Pounds of Invasive Chinese Mitten Crabs in Chicago

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed this week that the Chicago Field office seized nearly 900 pounds of invasive Chinese mitten crabs in mid-October.
The mitten crabs, which are considered a seasonal delicacy in Asia, were discovering during examinations of incoming Chinese freight. CBP specialists reportedly noted x-ray anomalies in 16 separate shipments, which were labeled as clothing.
