Imports of New Zealand Green Shell Mussels have yet to recover since earlier algal blooms in that country hampered production efforts there and limited the ability of U.S. importers to secure typical quantities. January through August imports total just 10.3 million pounds, leaving a 40 percent or 6.9-million-pound shortfall compared to the prior three-year average.
