Grieg Seafood Reports Mortality At 2 BC Locations Due to Harmful Algal Blooms

Atlantic salmon farming company Grieg Seafood confirmed on Wednesday that they have experience “acute mortality” at two of their B.C. locations in the Jervis Inlet. The mortality of an estimated 250,000 fish is said to be caused by harmful algal blooms in the area – specifically Heterosigma, a “species of microscopic algae that causes acute mortality in fish.”
The fish affected make up approximately 50% of the total biomass from the two locations ...
