Washington Dungeness Crab Meat Recovery Drops; Further Delay Possible

The Dungeness crab fishery on the West Coast continues to surprise.
Round 2 of testing in Washington showed meat recovery rates from Long Beach and Westport at 25 percent and 23.9 percent, respectively. But that all changed Friday.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife completed a third round of pre-season testing in the Long Beach test stations only, conducted at the request of members of the coastal crab industry in order to confirm the results of the second round of tests from the same area.
