The U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee has passed a bill to include shrimp in the Seafood Import Monitoring Program, a risk-based traceability program that requires certain imported seafood products to have records and specific data. The move is being commended by the National Chamber of Aquaculture of Ecuador, which exported 86,082,995 pounds of shrimp in June — a record high for the country.
