Troubling signs about the future of the Gulf of Maine lobster fishery continue to emerge.
Last fall, Julie Gelfand, the federal commissioner of the environment and sustainable development, reported Canada’s assessment of its East Coast lobster stocks “does not take into account recent changes in the ecosystem of the new, more efficient fishing methods.”
